The Kenny Hill New World Player Fingerstyle P650FIN-S model is the perfect guitar for the serious amateur, or for that matter, even a pro looking for an instrument with a thinner neck (48mm at the nut) and a cutaway for easier accessibility to the upper register. This is a great fingerstyle jazz instrument, but certainly fits the bill for other styles where a nylon string sound is desired. The Player Fingerstyle P640FIN rivals guitars costing much more, not only in terms of sound and playability, but also materials and workmanship.
Designed by master luthier Kenny Hill, each Player Fingerstyle is meticulously crafted to Kenny's specifications in a boutique shop in China that he set up, and by a team of artisans, some of whom he personally trained. Don't underestimate these instruments just because they were built offshore. These are all solid Indian rosewood back and sides and solid spruce top guitars with narrow Spanish cedar necks, ebony fretboards and a very thin PU finish. They are tastefully appointed with dyed and natural wood purflings, rosewood bindings, and an attractive traditional motif rosette. A two-way adjustable truss rod allows for fine-tuning the action for optimal playability. The Player P640FIN is definitely a cut above just about anything you will find in this price range. While these guitars are set up by Kenny and his team in his Ben Lomond, California workshop, we give them a once-over in our shop to optimize them further if necessary. Comes with a deluxe hardshell case with a carrying strap.
I have been playing guitar for over 50 years, and started playing classical guitars in the folk music era. I have had high-end hand-made Yamaha classical guitars, and presently own an Alvarez-Yairi CYM 95. This little, light weight, and loud guitar is simply amazing. It is a joy to play. The narrower nut (48mm, compared to a standard classical guitar nut width of 50mm) makes playing a breeze, and the volume of this guitar is really something. This guitar is a lot of bang for the buck. Great for a finger picker (Posted on 5/4/2018)
