Looking for simple but attractive tuning machines at a great price? The Rubner Classic 150-210s-sm is a perfect replacement for that inexpensive knock-around guitar you’ve been meaning to restring and get back into good playing order. But don’t be fooled, with its understated engraving, polished nickel finish, elegant smooth sleeves and black handles, these machines would not be out of place on a much more expensive instrument. Equipped with ElringKlinger Moldflon anti-friction bearings, these Rubner tuners are bound to give you years of great performance and trouble-free use.

I considered getting some Schaller or Gotoh tuners to replace the gaudy and cheap gold lyre-style tuners that came on my La Patrie Motif classical guitar which had lots of slop and felt vague. But I went for the Rubner 150-210s-sm silver plates with black handles I found here at All Strings Nylon. These had just the plain but handsome look I wanted and at a lower price. The rollers fit the old holes perfectly but only one of the screw holes in each plate matched the originals, but that is no big deal since the plates cover the unused holes and an ice pick got the new screws started. Tuning feels much better now, very smooth. I think my little parlor guitar looks fantastic. (Posted on 3/22/2015)
