I've been enjoying my recent pawn shop bargain find, an Yamaha APX5NA, but early on I knew I'd change the tuners. The Lyre style tuners and bow buttons just didn't fit the contemporary style of this guitar and the A string tuner was rough. I wanted ebony/black or ivoroid buttons which lead me to Gotoh or Schaller and an $80 investment. This was not a big problem but I thought I'd look at some other options. I found Rubner Tuners. I'm glad I did.
I chatted with the business. They responded quickly and were helpful. Shipping was quick.
These tuners are smooth and had no discernable lash as I could tell. The fit and finish is very good. The bearings are a nice feature that I believe aids in the tightness and smoothness of function. They have a quality feel in the hand and on the instrument.
I'm happy with the look of these tuners on instrument and their function. I'll definitely buy another set if I need them for another instrument. (Posted on 2/9/2017)
I bought these tuners for an upgrade on a seven string classical.
I added a single tuner for the seventh.
I'm having a guitar built and will purchase a higher end model for that one now that I've had these installed.
The tuning machines look great and function very smoothly.
Highly recommended! I kept my cost low due to my new guitar being built but would recommend the ebony buttons. The plastic are more than fine though.
GREAT customer service from this site! (Posted on 1/2/2016)
