The low tension Aranjuez 200 Spanish Silver basses are silverplated copper wound on nylon. In addition to their chiming overtones and clear, ringing timbre, they are also extremely durable.
Plucking the low E string sometimes produces undesirable noises caused by your thumbnail scraping the relatively thick winding of that string. Aranjuez has solved this problem by running the metal winding of this nylon string in the opposite direction with respect to the remaining wound strings. Now the winding goes in the same direction as your thumbnail, so when it plucks the string, there are no longitudinal movements along the grooves , and hence fewer chances to produce that undesirable noise.
